How do we shift our relationships with work to live happier, more fulfilled lives? Our guests today are Eva Dienel (founder) and Christine Bader (contributor 2019-2022) of The Life I Want, a storytelling project about reimagining a future of work that enhances and enriches our lives, rather than leaving us depleted and burned out.

Eva Dienel is a successful writer, editor, and consultant with over 20 years of experience telling stories that engage people in making the world a better place. She has worked with a range of organizations, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Participant Media, Mother Jones magazine, and Sierra Club Books. Eva was the Associate Director and Communications Manager at BSR (Business for Social Responsibility) from 2008-2015, but left in pursuit of a better design for work and life.

Christine Bader was Amazon's first director of social responsibility (2015-2017) and is the author of The Evolution of a Corporate Idealist: When Girl Meets Oil. She has delivered one TED and two TEDx talks, worked with the United Nations, taught business and human rights at Columbia University, and written for many publications, including The New York Times, Fast Company, and The Atlantic.

In this episode of Purpose Works, Christine, Eva, and host Maren Keeley, cofounder & CEO of Handprint, discuss what it would take to challenge the myths and broken promises of a system that glorifies overworking and prevents us from truly enjoying our lives.
